A native of Southern California, Morgan became obsessed with martial arts at a young age as many kids did - by watching Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. After exploring Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, Aikido, and other martial arts, he began seriously studying Kenpo with his father and brother under the guidance of Dr. Jerry Erickson, whose school soon joined Dr. Ron Chapel - a personal student of Ed Parker. Morgan earned his black belt before moving to Salt Lake City for college, eventually staying for newfound friendships and the outdoors.
After a multi-year hiatus, Morgan felt the urge to practice martial arts again. Realizing he never seriously studied grappling, he decided to check out a local Gracie Certified Training Center. Morgan immediately felt the power of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, as practitioners significantly smaller than him could easily control and submit him on the ground using clever techniques. Morgan became obsessed with the grace, effectiveness, and philosophy of the art, and decided he would practice it for the rest of his life.
After relocating to southern Utah, Morgan instantly found his second home in the friendly and welcoming environment of Gracie St. George. Though still early in his Jiu-Jitsu journey, Morgan completed the Instructor Certification Program (ICP) to help new students discover their potential and fall in love with Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Known for his kindness, patience, and humor, Morgan strives to make everyone feel as welcome as he did the first time he stepped on the mat.
An engineer by day, Morgan spends his nights and weekends on the mat meticulously developing his craft and relating everything he has learned along the way. To him, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu epitomizes a complete martial art as a physical, cerebral, and spiritual experience.
